US Coast Guard Auxiliary Youth Programs

Welcome to the US Coast Guard Auxiliary’s Youth Program Division website!

I’m Ron Blaisdell, and I have the honor to be the 2nd and current national Division Chief for Youth Programs. Youth Programs has grown, from serving just the Auxiliary-Scouting America relationship that makes the Sea Scouts the Auxiliaries official youth program, to include CGJROTC, Sea Cadets, and most recently Partners in Education (PIE).

We are fortunate that we stand on the strong-shoulders of the person responsible for our relationship with Scouting America, and that is the Director of the Student Programs Directorate — Bruce Johnson. He worked diligently over many years to make this all happen. And he gave us the charge to keep the program going and to serve all the youth in our charge.

Like Bruce, I have a lifelong involvement with scouting. Sea Scouting came later in my life, as there were no Sea Scout units (ships) in my area. But after moving to Florida in 2005, I finally had my chance.

We have a great team, who can really help you if you are looking to start a new ship, keep an existing ship going, or even to consider chartering and caring for a ship by your Flotilla or Division.

But who do you ask for questions? That will always start with me. I keep constant tabs on my email, and text messages, and I welcome your questions, which will be answered within 24 hours.
